Hat Trick

I'm so sad, because I just wrote a very witty post all about my knitting three hats in eleven days, and blogger just totally ate it.  I don't know if I can write it all again, especially at 11:52 at night. But I'll try again with the pictures at least, and you'll have to piece together all that I meant to say about the satisfaction of using leftover yarn, about the pleasure of making cute things for my kids, and about the hockey reference. That's one for C up there, here's the one for A:

And the funky, mixy one for W:

I've loved seeing these little bright spots out in the still slightly bleak March landscape.

And while he didn't yet get a new hat, M did wear these on his feet for a few hours one day which was equally fantastic:

Spring Snow Sewing

Last Friday was a lovely snowy day - ironically already a day off school for my big 'uns, a teacher workday, but D was super happy that his classes were cancelled, giving him a nice jump start on his own spring break. And then today we got a real snow day, though for not a whole lot of real snow, here on the coast. Anyway, all together it's been a very cold and wintry bunch of days so I've been making up for it by sewing and knitting springy things. I made another Practical Bag, this time using a bunch of different fat quarters from a collection I bought ages ago. I might see if C wants to use it for her dance stuff, but mostly I just enjoyed using these fabrics and not fussing over making it terribly stylish.

I also made this hat in a record three days, start to finish:

I'm about halfway done with another one, too, both just using up yarn leftovers. I'm very much enjoying my stash-busting momentum and have a number of other sewing and knitting projects in the hopper. I'll keep you posted on my progress!

Marching Along

I very thoroughly enjoyed my February of daily blogging - oddly less pressure that way, knowing that I can publish a post without a lot of explaining or excusing or catching up. Just that day. Now here we are a full week-plus into March without a peep from me. Not really a whole lot to report, just chugging along with the usual tricks here. Our crocuses in the front garden think spring is here but the forecast has quite a few things to say to the contrary. So we shall keep on keeping on and check back again soon!
